Garnet-biotite-sillimanite gneiss art print

This garnet-biotite-sillimanite gneiss comes from El Hoyazo in southeast Spain. It is found inside an old atoll - a volcanic island with a coral reef. The hot magma first intruded into the metamorphic bedrock and the subsequent explosive activity shattered it. Bits of the gneiss got incorporated into the molten lava and were trapped in it as it cooled down.
